What is Clotrimazole + Betamethasone?

Therapeutic Class:

Active Ingredients: Clotrimazole, Betamethasone

Clotrimazole + Betamethasone Cream is a topical combination drug used to treat fungal infections of the skin. It is indicated for the treatment of athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and ringworm on the body (tinea corporis). This medicine contains an antifungal agent and a steroid.

This dermatologic medicine contains two active ingredients: Clotrimazole and Betamethasone. Clotrimazole is an azole antifungal agent that works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of sterol ergosterol, an important element of fungal cell membrane necessary for its metabolism and survival. Betamethasone is a glucocorticoid steroid, which displays both anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties.

Clotrimazole + Betamethasone is available in two formulations, as a cream or as a lotion.
