It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate acute malaria caused by mefloquine-susceptible strains of Plasmodium falciparum or P. vivax. How should Mefloquine Tablets be used?

This medication is intended to be taken orally. Mefloquine HCl Tablets should be taken with food.

What dose should be taken?

For malaria prophylaxis, the usual dose is 250mg per week. Treatment should begin 2 weeks before exposure and continue for 4 weeks after.

For uncomplicated malaria, the usual dose is 750mg as an initial dose followed by 500mg 6-12 hours later.
